Heather eagerly accepted my offer to come with me to my classroom on the first official day of no school. It was difficult to leave her at home, with her nearly in tears and that indescribable heart-tugging "whoa is me" expression! I told her that she was allowed to come with me to work because there were no students on campus.
While I was "clearing" my room and watching soap operas and some "Dr Phil" wannabe on my limited channel tv, had a lot of fun from dashing up and down the ramps, roaming around my classroom, writing on the whiteboard, eating her snacks after taking them out of my mini fridge on several occasions, reading the comics, walking to and from the library twice (to return some teaching materials and have the librarian inital my check out sheet, meeting some of the staff: our principal, the ap substitute secretary, a campus gardner, and some teachers along the way, searching and moving supplies from the teacher's desks, and of course working on the computer.
She especially enjoyed diligently coloring the apples (in their entirety)for her favorite teacher, mommy and proudly displaying them on the wall.

After making an orange apple and a purple apple, she decided to make a hot pink apple. She probably decided on that while wearing a pink straw stetson.
She also got a kick out of seeing her previous artwork displayed near my desk.
