Here Comes the Fun!

My mom,  aunt-in-law (the wife of my mom's brother, also my godfather), and I recently attended a musical theatrical performance (more like a high quality concert production), "In My Life" starring a Beatles cover band called "Abbey Road Tribute":   http://www.inmylifetheplay.com/index.php?id=82
I really enjoyed the dancing to the fun and familiar tunes.  It is cool that the performers encouraged audience participation.  Those that seemed close to my grandparents' age (senior citizens) really got into the music that they grew up with.  It takes them to the "happier times" in their lives.

During the intermission of the show.  I really do not want to take pictures, but my mom and Aunt Dia want keepsakes.
Pinky Lane and Abbey Rhodes

Returning to our seats, after the intermission.   My Aunt Dia took this photo of me.  I feel "overdressed" in comparison to the majority of those in attendance.  My mom insisted that I "dress up" in a dress that my grandma purchased recently.  I might outgrow the clothes that I get from her sooner than I think.

 Pinky Lane

After the show, here we are at the lobby of the performing arts center.  By this time, the crowd left the building and just handful of people were hanging out at the lobby.   I begged my mom that we stay at the lobby and wait to meet the "Beatle Guys".   My mom did not believe that they would come out to meet fans after the show.   It was nearing 10:30 p.m  Then before we could think of leaving the building, guess what!  We looked to our right and like I told my mom, a group of fine guys (except for a few walking with them) seem to come out of nowhere (from some little hallway to the right of us as pictured) and walked past us.  I was very excited.  My mom and my aunt stood in disbelief.   The "Beatle Guys" quickly sat down behind one of the tables and started signing autographs for their eager fans.

With A Little Help From Its Friends and Patrons

Coming together with the members of "Abbey Road Tribute" for autographs and a photo opportunity.    My mom mentioned after observation, that the 4 gentlemen will only sign purchased items such as the sweatshirts and glossy photos from the table next to where they were seated.  My mom complimented them personally on their sensational performance. She prefers "Ringo" played by Axel.   To her, he seems to be the friendliest and the easiest to talk to. Axel is also a college and high-school teacher, whom my mom can relate to.  I also like Ringo.  He was the "cutest" up close and personal among the 4 and was funny during the little skits.  Aunt Dia has a crush on the guy that plays George Harrison.

I really wanted to shake the hands of these "cute guys", but I became frightened.  I insisted my mom that we have a picture taken with them/  Aunt Dia was able to ask some young lady to take our photos with the Abbey Road Tribute Band.  The quality of the two photos were not clear and focused as we had hoped for.
Come Together

"In My Life" is so cool.  I stayed awake throughout the whole show. My favorite part was getting up and dancing to the fast music such as "Twist and Shout".   My mom said it was truly my first concert experience with live singing and instrument.  I did not think about my favorite group "One Direction" during the entire show. The "Beatle Guys" (Abbey Road Tribute) were fine.  Thank you, Mom, for constantly playing the Beatles in the car.  You brainwashed me with their catchy music.

I am proud to show off these current Beatles with their autographs, It was a fun day's night!

Artie Fax

Heather,  by La Plaza de Panama Water fountain, with a very nice view of the S.D. Natural Museum. She is wearing a Simplicity 3515 Hannah Montana top I sewed for her last year, which fits better now.
 Fountain of Youth

After visiting "Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition" at the museum (the wait in line was much longer than the actual visit), Heather took a photo opportunity with a "beary good" captain of the ship.

Webs and Ruffles of Fun

Jorgen, Heather and I saw just saw "The Amazing Spiderman" in 3D, starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.  I found the movie surprisingly fantastic.

Heather wore her "Spidey Skirt" with three tiers of ruffles while Andrew wore ...
Web Sight

... his "Spidey Spandex".  During an interview at the height of popularity of  "The Social Network", co-star Justin Timberlake (seated next to Andrew) trying to be pun-ny,  made a reference to this being his first "skintight" role.  I don't remember Tom, Denzel, Johnny or Brad in such roles.

A few weeks ago, Emma and Andrew participated in a photo session in Madrid, Spain. Emma's Roksanda Ilincic from the fall 2012 collection would look better without the ruffle.  It is reassuring to know that there is another one besides myself who experienced some challenges with gathering a piece of fabric...

This 2012 Spider Man "reboot" had a nice melange of  (I don't care what the critics say)...

action,

adventure,
Web Crawler

drama,
Spandex Spidey

science fiction,

romance,

and much more...

For Heather's "Spidey Skirt" I used McCall's 6276
Tiers for Peers

For the yoke and upper ruffle I used the same fabric as for my my Spidey top  made from a July 2012 Burda Style pattern

Spidey Skirt

for the second tier, I used this fabric that I purchased at Joann's.

and for the third tier, I used a cotton printed with colorful butterflies and swirls filled with connected circles.

Heather really enjoyed the movie and of course, wearing her new Spidey skirt.

Fair, Fashion, Father's Day, and Food

Happy First Day of Summer, whether you are experiencing sunshine or not.

Me, wearing a top that I made from a Butterick 5645 pattern.

Party of Four

Close Encounters of the Eerie Kind at the NASA exhibit at the fair.  "We come in peace".

More at the NASA exhibit, Gemini Missions.  Astronaut Wally Schirra partook in this mission.

Last Friday at an IKEA buffet event.  This was the closest restaurant meal to homeland that my Swedish husband (Heather's dad) would get.   I am wearing Butterick 5386, mock wrap style.

Heather likes meatballs and mashed potatoes.  Salmon, marzipan cake, and lingonberry juice are my favorites.

This past Father's Day Sunday: Heather's dad enjoyed some honey spiced riblets at Hometown Buffet.

Heather and me, ready for an ice cream dessert.  Me wearing a Jalie 2921 scarf top (with a modified side instead of a centered tie)

Last Saturday at the fair after her dance performance: Heather holding up a fried Kool-Aid ball and a fried Oreo ball.  After eating one of each and a gulf of diet Pepsi, we felt "stuffed".  I wrapped the leftovers in the given paper, stuffed them in my big purse, and we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon...

Just "Fore" Fun Again!

Here we are again at Forever Twenty-One, for a semi-frugal and guilt-free shopping experience.

Once we entered through the second level of the store, we gravitated towards the accessories department with the earrings, bracelets, and necklaces.

Heather's items: a set of bangles,  a purple bracelet with interwoven designs, a pair of "Eiffel Tower" earrings, a faux rhinestoned cheetah, a necklace with an anchor pendant, and a set consisting of six pairs of earrings (a pair of white flowers, faux diamond 6 petaled flowers, ribbons tied in bows, miniature finger rings, birds in flight, and little balls formed by wound "chains".

My items: a purple hinged bangle embossed with faux rhinestone flowers at the edges, a pair of metal earrings that simulate colorful feathers, an owl necklace, and a pair of goldtone and black zig zagged dangling earrings.  The "parallelograms" and the "trapezoid" at each apex did not come out clearly between the black zig zags.

The Forever21.com website also sells them.  This photo does not capture the glistening of the metal. These would complement my top nicely.

Also from the website ,"rhinestone flower hinge bracelet".
From the girls' section, some tops to update Heather's summer wardrobe:

A knit kimono sleeved top with a laced back for $12.90 and made in the U.S.A. yeah!

A tank for $2.90 that can be worn underneath the gray top.

For a fashion fan-da, a beary cute t-shirt for $8.90

To go with the tops, a pair of denim shorts.

Heather likes the tie to cinch the waist.

For Heather's grandmother ( my mom), a polka dotted and floral (jade colored background) breezy top, with an elasticized and clasped belt.  I also purchased for my mom a polka dotted, knit top with a ruffled front

As for jewelry, it will be "authentic" instead of the  "baubles and beads" for her. She rarely wears the "fake" stuff. She would probably like Macy's 14 karat gold "Diamond Cut Marquise Filigree Drop Earrings".

I wonder how often the outfits on the mannequins are changed.

Three weeks ago during our previous visit.  Heather added a little more attitude to the group.

Heather with an "attitude adjustment" for the current display, and wearing an Abercrombie and Fitch top amidst the Forever 21 outfits. Heh heh heh...

I received a rock transformed into a ladybug.  Thanks, Heather!

Happy Mother's Day!
