Heather and I were on our way to the UCSD library on a gorgeous, sunny Sunday. This library, part of the UCSD campus located in La Jolla, Califronia, is also known as the (Theodore) Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) Library which contains a section that also houses Mr. Geisel's collection of original manuscripts and drafts of his books. There's the library in the background.
Besides Heather showing her UCSD Triton pride in blue, yellow, and white, I also wore the same school colors. I made this wide collared top (in a Michael Miller fabric) from a 1970's McCall's dress pattern this past summer and wore it for the first time, out of the house.

I noticed that double breasted dresses are currently trending. I purchased this on-line (either ebay or etsy) because the styles appealed to me.

This classic McCall's pattern from 1970 although it was somewhat time-consuming, is overall fairly simple to sew. The collar came out a tad wider than expected. Next time, I will add some large snaps at the front closure. I used a temporary safety pin and a belt to cinch the front at the waist.
Heather at the UCSD library, Geisel collections area, pointing to one of Dr. Seuss' characters:
Even as an adult, I am still fascinated by "The Cat in the Hat" created by the reknown author who once resided in La Jolla.
My avid Literary Advo-Kitt enjoying the sunshine.
